Hello!
In this Edition: The hidden costs of traditional software RFTs; 7 AI-driven trends impacting NFPs, the Pope has a lot to say about AI… and More!
What I’m thinking about:
- The hidden cost of traditional software RFTs – I regularly help Not for Profits invest in new systems. Still, few realise that the traditional way of going to market via a 1000+ requirements list is not only outdated for the Software as a Service (Saas) market, but will also cost them more.
- 7 AI-Driven Trends Impacting NFPs – In case you missed my recent LinkedIn post, I recently spoke at a Volunteering ACT Conference panel that covered this topic.
- What’s the difference between a CRM and an AMS? – I get asked this question all the time by Associations, and the difference does matter.
What I’m reading:
- How the fuel supply crisis is impacting Not for Profits and the communities they serve – Insightful slide deck from a recent presentation hosted by the ACT Council of Social Services.
- The Canvas Hack Is a New Kind of Ransomware Debacle – So many schools and RTOs have been impacted by this Learning Management System (LMS) breach. It’s a good reminder about third-party risk that you need to consider in both your cybersecurity risk management and business continuity plans.
- US orders travellers on Air Force One to throw away gifts, pins, and burner phones after China trip. There are many ways that people can be tracked today, and I know that NFPs that deal with services like helping domestic violence victims deal with this all the time. But what about international aid and advocacy orgs? Could this be a good reminder?
- The Pope has a lot to say about AI. Regardless of your religious beliefs, it was a great reminder that technology (including AI) is not the problem. It’s how we use it and who controls it that matters. Exec Summary of his 47-page letter: “Stay Human!”
- Latest Phishing Attack – Avoid clicking on these kinds of Microsoft messages.
Quote of the month:
“When efficiency becomes the ultimate measure of value, human beings are tempted to see themselves as a project to be optimized rather than as persons called to relationship and communion.” – Pope Leo XIV
