Hello!
In this Edition: Why Change Management is NOT a “nice to have” in IT projects, More NFPs impacted by cybersecurity incidents, Using AI for Fundraising… and More!
What I’m thinking about:
- Why Change Management is NOT a “nice-to-have” in IT Projects. Contrary to popular opinion, change management is not optional in a major system implementation. It’s mandatory to meet your business case, and the vendor can’t do it for you.
What I’m reading:
- Has AI killed the grant application form? (And can we build it back better?) Funders are being overwhelmed with AI-generated grant applications. This blog post talks about options for bringing humans back into the process.
- Using AI for Fundraising Still Requires Human Strategy – I know an executive fundraiser who refuses to use AI to draft communications with major donors, many of whom work for AI companies, because they still expect the human interaction.
- Cybersecurity incidents impacting Not for Profits recently include: Vacro, Your Community Health, Mathspace (education technology company), Beacon CRM, and Ring Central – notice how many of these are 3rd party providers to NFPs!
- Microsoft’s statement on how they are adapting responsible use of AI – there is an obvious shift that AI governance is being more like cybersecurity governance, where active monitoring and management is absolutely required to reduce risks.
- National Disability Services AI Governance Framework for Disability Service Providers – these are essentially principles which I think are good guidance for any Not for Profit organisation, not just those who work in the disability space.
What am I watching:
Quote of the month:
“AI could become either the ‘greatest equaliser ever invented’ or the worst source of injustice.” – Bill Gates
